Question:Is there a way to have an access control system with both hardwired and wireless hardware?
Answer:Yes you can, but the caveat is that the hardware must be compatible with the access control system's software. Essentially there are many hardwire/wireless options, but here are two that cover the most ground:bitsâ„¢ is of the first I would start to qualify for a customer. The bitsâ„¢ software can be used to control a variety of widely supported manufacturers and brands of access control system hardware including:
- Sargent Profile Series v.S1 & v.S2 Mortise/Cylindrical Locks
- Corbin Russwin/Sargent IN120 WiFi Locks
- All ASSA ABLOY Aperio® technology-enabled locks
- HID Vertx Controllers
- HID Edge Controllers
- Schlage NDE, LE & AD Series Locks
The second option would be to work with the hardware's proprietary software like KERI Systems or Alarm Lock, both of which support their own locks with software for usage on their brand-specific access control systems. Please contact an access control expert at IDN for additional information on any of these (or other) products.
