FAQ
Q: What can I see on the site as a Guest (not currently doing business with IDN)?
A: Any User/Guest can browse products available through IDN Global and can view other information tabs. IDN requires an active business account to see pricing and to add items to a cart for purchase.
Q: I’ve never done business with IDN before. How can I request a new customer account?
A: IDN makes it easy for qualified businesses to set up a customer account. Simply click Register on the Home Page and submit the information requested. An IDN representative will contact you regarding the status of your request.
Q: How do I Sign In to the e-Com site?
A: If you have an existing business account with IDN and you already have e-Com site access (i.e., User name and Password), just click Sign In on the Home Page. Then enter your User Name and Password as prompted.
For other scenarios (e.g., existing business account but need e-Com access, or to request a new business account with IDN), see below.
If you have an existing business account but do not currently have e-Com access, click Register and follow the prompts to Create New e-Commerce Account. You will receive an email that allows you to set your own password.
If you do not have an existing business account with IDN, you must establish that before gaining access to the e-Com site. Click Register and then Request a Company Account. Please note that full e-commerce site access is provided as a convenience for established IDN business accounts.
Q: How can I sign in if I forgot my password?
A: After signing in, go to Account and click Forgot Password?
Q: How can I change my password?
A: After signing in with a known password, you can Change your password from within the Account Dashboard. You may either click “Change Password” under My Account, or you may select Account Information on the left side of the page and then check off the “Change Password” box. Q: How can I add or delete users within my own shop/company/department?
A: After signing in, go to Account and click Company Users. Follow the prompt to add/edit.
IMPORTANT: Every account has a Super Administrator role. This is the only level at which a User can add, delete, or manage other Users within the account.
For additional information on managing User access, see the answers provided to the next question in this list “How can I manage what Users in my company can and cannot see/use on the site?”.
For direct assistance with managing User roles and permissions, please contact your IDN sales rep to be connected with a specialist to help you set up your account in accordance with your own business preferences. This is most helpful in the early stages of adding Users and managing access.
Q: How can I manage what Users in my company can and cannot see/use on the site?
A: User Roles & Permissions can be set by (and only by) the account administrator (assigned at the time e-commerce access was granted to your company).
User “roles” are generated to grant access at levels that appropriate for a given company. Examples include “full access” to select products, order products, view company information, etc. Alternatively, a company may wish to authorize the creation of purchase requisitions but require supervisor approval to turn the requisition into a purchase order. Follow the permissions “tree” to create the Roles that are appropriate for your company. Then select the appropriate Role (authorization level) for each User set up in your company.
Q: Can I shop on the site without signing in?
A: Anyone can browse products on the site. This method of browsing as a “Guest” (not Signed In) will limit the User to browsing only. Prices will only be shown when signed in, and adding items to a cart to purchase is only possible after signing in.
Q: How can I search for product?
A: The short answer is that you can search in the way you prefer the most!
1) Using the top search bar, enter item description, or manufacturer part number, or EZ number. By default, the system will search “all categories” in the database for a match. To refine your search, use the drop-down arrow at the left of the search bar to search the desired terms within a product category. Then continue with the search for terms you entered in the top search bar.
2) To search by Product, click the PRODUCTS label in the gray bar to the left of the screen. Then Shop by Category to “drill down” to the product(s) you are seeking.
3) To search by Manufacturer, click the PRODUCTS label in the gray bar to the left, then Shop by Manufacturer. Click on the manufacturer name to see all products in the database under that brand.
4) For those who are visual, scroll down to the Shop by Category heading in the middle of the Home Page. Click on the image for the product category you would like to see. Continue to “drill down” to the item(s) needed.
5) For any of the methods shown above, the results of the search will yield a page of products matching the search criteria. Filters on the left side of the page are designed to help you refine you search quickly and intuitively.
a. Filters with a modest number of options will display the values to choose.
Filters with a larger number of options will include a “Search” box to allow entry for a “search within the filter”. This is for your convenience.
Q: How can I view or change the Filter choices I have made?
A: When Filters are used, the active filters appear at the top of the Filter listing to let you know exactly which filters are active for any given display. To eliminate a filter, simply hit the “x” next to the active filter shown, or hit “Clear All” to start over.
Q: Can I use multiple Filters?
A: Absolutely. That is one of the best ways to “drill down” to the desired product(s). Example: you might be seeking a “Lever” lock with “Finish = Satin Chrome” and “Function = Entry”. The is a great way to narrow down the solution set for the item(s) you are looking for.
Q: Can I select multiple options within a given Filter?
A: Yes. Check boxes are provided to allow a User to select multiple options within a given filter. Note that it may take a moment for the system to store a filter choice before presenting you with the option to select another.
