Question:

Do fire rated doors require the use of gaskets to seal the opening?

Answer:

Typically, perimeter gasketing is not required on fire rated doors. However, doors in smoke and draft control areas may require it depending on the city, state, and/or county code. When required, make sure to use gasketing that is smoke/draft rated. As always, it is best to check with the local authority having jurisdiction to see what products are required in your area.
