Question
I am no longer allowed to order doors with wire glass. Why?
Answer
Building codes state that all windows in doors, sidelites, and borrowed lites be SAFETY RATED. Traditional wire glass is not safety rated. Acceptable glazing materials are Tempered Glass, Laminated Glass, Acrylic or Polycarbonate. In some areas, wire glass can still be used only if it has an approved impact safety file applied. Regardless of what type of glass is being replaced, current laws and codes must be met.
