Question:

I have a 1200-lb holding force magnet on an aluminum door. After hours, the door can be opened by anyone who pulls hard. What's wrong?

Answer:

You may be encountering a reduced holding force. Your mag lock entry issues may be caused by the magnet and the armature plate not "mating" correctly. First, check the alignment and ensure it's correct. I've seen instances of the armature being too low by a 1/2" and I could force the door open. Clean the face of the magnet and the armature plate. I suggest using a non-abrasive lubricant, such as the Houdini 4-way lubricant. Then, check the wiring and make sure it's correct. Ensure the correct voltage is being supplied and that the jumpers are set to the same correct voltage.
