Is there anything that can be done to help prevent a frame from rusting?

Answer:

Hollow Metal Frames are typically made from a prime painted cold rolled steel or from a galvanneal steel to help inhibit rust. For further resistance from corrosion, frames can now be provided with an asphaltic undercoating. The asphaltic undercoating not only helps provide corrosion resistance, but is both VOC Free & HAPS Free.
