Question:
I need to install an access control lock on aluminum storefront doors on a variety of laundry mats where the doors will unlock at 6:00 a.m. and re-lock at 10:00 p.m. Do you have any suggestions on what to install for a timed unlock and timed relock?
Answer:
Certainly, there are several solutions for this type of situation. One of the easiest ways is to add an electric strike with a seven day timer and a power supply. In doing this, you may have to change the lock to a deadlatch if they are currently using a hook or swing bolt. Remember the strike will have to be able to handle continuous duty. Another option is a standalone lock programmed with software that would unlock and re-lock at predetermined schedules. We have more options if you need additional guidance.
