Question: What is a fire rated door?   Answer: A fire rated door is a door in a fire wall that must meet certain criteria based on the specific rating. Typical fire rated doors are 20 minute, 45 minute, 90 minute, or 180 minutes. The rating of the door should be 3/4 of the wall rating. For example, a 2-hour fire wall would require a 90 minute fire rated door. Fire rated doors & frames will have a visible fire label typically located on the hinge side of the door, or on top of the door in some cases. Fire rated doors also have specific hardware requirements and restrictions that are determined by the rating that must be achieved, such as the use of door closers, fire rated exit devices, and window size limitations.   Do you have a question, or need a quote?
